This week, we lost our dad, Mike, to pancreatic cancer.
He was diagnosed in July 2025, and from the very beginning, the team at the University of Colorado Division of Surgical Oncology changed our experience in ways we will never forget. What could have been an overwhelming and isolating journey became one filled with compassion, humanity, and genuine care.
The doctors, nurses, and staff didn’t just treat his illness, they showed up for him as a person, and for all of us as a family. Many of them became like family to us. Their dedication made a lasting impact, and they reminded us every day how important their work is, not just in treatment, but in advancing research and hope for others.
Last year, while our dad was still fighting, we participated in the Pancreatic Cancer walk together. It was incredibly moving to stand alongside so many people. Some were supporting loved ones, some remembering someone they’ve lost, and some simply showing up to make a difference.
This year, we will walk again on November 7th ... this time in his honor.
We’re starting a team to raise funds for pancreatic cancer research, with 100% of donations going directly to the CU Division of Surgical Oncology here in Colorado, the same team that gave so much to our family.
If you’d like to join us, we would truly love to have you walk alongside us—or run, if that’s more your "speed". Ha! He would appreciate what I did there.
If you’re not able to be there but feel moved to give, we are deeply grateful for your support. This is just one way we can carry him forward and help others facing this same fight. He would want that.
With Love,
Our Family
